Saw the local news report about Florence High School that is dominated by an evangelical church in violation of the operation of a public school Based on the interview with principal seems like it will be business as usual. The community seems to be ok with letting a church dictate what goes on in a public school.
The religious right is saying that they will continue to ignore the public domain. And where communities are dominated by Christian churches that public school will become an extension of the churches if the community does not object. At this point the religious right is saying they will ignore federal and state law says that teaching religion in public schools is prohibited.
We are seeing some GOP candidates say they will ignore the courts and federal law. And that they will favor ignoring federal and state authority. Their stance is that they believe that they have a right to insist on making this a Christian run nation.
We have a problem because there is now a new militancy with the dawn of LGBT getting their civil rights. Gay marriage is like a red flag to a bull to them. And they will never accept what the courts have decided.
