Interesting Website: LivingNewDeal.org

Lots of really great info on a part of our history that's being systematically erased.

Check out the interactive map for sites around the US that benefited from the New Deal: http://livingnewdeal.org/map/

For example, I had no idea that the Post Office in my town was built as part of a New Deal project.

Here's what's in the post office down the street from me in Eastpointe MI:

Early Settlers by Frank Cassara.

Amazing. We just happen to be celebrating another great muralist, Diego Rivera, and his wife, Frida Kahlo, here in Detroit this year.

Even more amazing is how much art and culture were valued by and for the people, before tee vee.

If so, how was it? Do you think it's worth a special trip? I'm a real art nut and I've been itching to get out of town.

This is a blockbuster show with many of Rivera and Kahlo's masterpieces on loan from other museums and private collections, making this a can't miss thing. People are in town from all over...

It contradicts St. Reagan's pronouncement that government is the problem.

We really need a New New Deal right now (think something like the CCC for infrastructure repair).

Squandered Opportunities...That will make a great title for a history of these times (assuming there will still be people around who write and read histories in the future).
