1. Someone, who I love dearly, was sexually abused by an older brother...

and my friend's siblings, as well. All of their pain is, for the most part, subjugated, except for those times when it is not. And then, when it is released, the pain they express is almost too much to bear.

I keep thinking about his victims and how this is dragged out and how awful their parent's response is and what they must be going through.

I was raised to use superlatives like "love" and "hate" judiciously.

19. i don't. I've witnessed similar where the victim is coerced, using the bible as a prop,

to forgive the unforgettable. The pressure on the girls while Josh was sent away must have been unrelenting in order for them to accept him back into the fold.

I've little doubt that part of his therapy was to apologize on the return home. And, I've little doubt that his victims were regularly and repeatedly coached to accept his apology. With out a doubt, they were told that Josh's actions were influenced by the devil and that god would make him whole and clean. And if god could make him whole and clean, then so should they.

20. I doubt they even addressed it with the girls. I think it was all focused on "Precious Joshie"

(his mother's words) and the victims weren't even thought about. Josh would have had to do something they actually thought was wrong for that to happen. This was all on the girls tempting him in my opinion.

22. I used to counsel women who were in similar fundie situations as a youth and had escaped.

There would have been regular prayer sessions to pray for Josh's soul. There would have been, during those prayer sessions, exhortations to drive the devil out of Josh. There would have been exhortations to forgive him when he came home.

And yes. There would have been accusations that the girls tempted him. And, ultimately, they would have agreed and forgiven him.

23. Again, I really doubt it from all the reading I've done on the Quiverfull group this week.

There was no forgiveness, freely given or forced, in my opinion. The only "forgiveness" they need is from "God." These girls, in this cult, are worthless. It shows in this instance and it shows each time that program is aired.

but there are pictures of other brother/sister siblings standing close to each other.

but i couldn't find any of Josh. even in the family pics he is never next to the sisters.
