This image was part of Josh's support for anti-abortion legislation. Really? This guy cares so much about babies and children?

When it comes to this shameful Duggar debacle, I find myself shaking my head. It's to the point where I can't click on the stories any more. Each one is worst than the next.

And you know what worries me the most? That this will be an Alka Seltzer moment--Where there's a big flurry of activity and buzz, but then it all fizzles out. TLC airs their planned spin-off series, Josh weasels his way back into a marketing position for some conservative hate group and NOTHING CHANGES.

We can all connect the dots here. Josh's father Jim Bob is friends with a cop, who just happened to be a raging pedophile and child-pornography viewer. The religious "training center" owner, another friend of Jim-Bob's sexually harassed dozens of women and children before he was caught. Their religion is misogynistic and treats children like possessions that they can physically abuse--even babies. DHS should be investigating that entire family.

The spin-off show will feature Jessa Duggar, Jill Duggar and their husbands. Jessa and Jill are two of the sisters who were molested. In effect, the spin-off will be a crime scene. TLC thinks it's ok to hide the perpetrator, but showcase the unhealed victims who were denied therapy and any chance at healing.

The fact that people are ok with this, and that people will watch this--is heartbreaking.

And we've got the Duggars doing Fox this week. No doubt this is a PR move, crafted to make themselves look like victims and to gin up support for the spin-off program. It's just…sickening. These people are very skilled at manipulating the public into believing that they are wonderful. I'm sure they will continue to lie about Josh getting counseling and their girls truly forgiving their perpetrator--and all of it will go completely unchallenged by Megan Kelly. These horrifying people do not deserve such a platform.

Am I the only one who is losing faith in humanity over this entire episode?

I mean, if our society cannot agree that it is horrible for parents to COVER UP incest and DO NOTHING to help their son who is committing these crimes and the traumatized victims who will suffer for a lifetime--then what IS our society?

and hide behind the cross so that no one will question how "normal" and "observant" they are. Most are so good at it that they go for years, destroying hundreds of children, before anyone gets the least bit suspicious. Children who tell are disciplined as liars because SoandSo is such a good man, always supporting the church, doing missionary work, leading scout troops.

I doubt ole Jim Bob knew his policeman friend was a raging pederast and kiddie porn collector or that the "training center" honcho was raping little girls. They were both good men, pillars of the church, who would possibly suspect them?

And these losers wonder why so many young people are leaving organized religion behind with Santa Claus and the Tooth Fairy. While they might still believe in a guiding intelligence in the universe, you'll never get them to participate in any church with a history of shielding pedophiles. They'd rather grit their teeth and go it alone and keep their kids safer.
