Reporter/stripper sues after being fired

http://usnews.msnbc.msn.com/_news/2012/05/11/11657802-fired-for-stripping-houston-reporter-files-discrimination-complaint?lite&ocid=ansmsnbc11

The former Houston Chronicle reporter who was fired after another publication exposed her second job as a night club stripper announced Thursday she had filed a federal gender discrimination complaint against the paper that let her go.

In her complaint, Sarah Tressler, 30, is asking the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission to look into the Chronicle's decision to fire her. Tressler says an editor told her she was let go because she hadn't disclosed her side gig in her job application.

"I was very upset that I was fired because I had been told by many editors that I was doing a good job," Tessler said in a statement. "There was no question on the form that covered my dancing. I answered the questions on the form honestly."

Did someone at the paper sit down and say "It's been kind of dull around here lately. Know what sounds like fun? A LAWSUIT!!"? They had to know this was coming.

Not saying it's right, but I'm guessing the blue bloods of Houston might be reluctant to speak with a stripper/reporter.

Hmmmmmmm?

If, as her editors said, she was doing a good job, the "blue bloods" may not have known her history.

Now she's been fired for not answering a question they didn't ask.

I am beyond tired of the stigma of "sex"-work regardless of its form. They're good enough to drool and jack-off to but heaven forfend one might have to deal with "them" as human beings.

The puritans are laughing their colorless asses off at their progeny.

she'd only been there for two months -- It's not like she had built up a long reputable career and pension...

Second, she can't be *that* dumb to have not known stripping on the side AND blogging about it AND leaving enough clues for anyone to easily out her would not fly well in the newsroom, despite her weak-assed "but you never asked my about that" -defense...The Chronicle would have fired her on principle alone, to say nothing about the added embarrassment of getting their face rubbed in shit by the local alt weekly...

Finally, even she should have know that the "lifestyle/society/pop culture" reporter is probably the most expendable on the staff -- She was working with a thin margin of error. Instead of wasting time with this hopeless lawsuit, she just needs to get a job with the alt paper (which is where she should have been from the start)
