Indian villagers lower makeshift ladder to help leopard get out of well

Villagers stage dramatic rescue after using just a net and ladder after a LEOPARD gets stuck down a well in India
The leopard was believed to have fallen into the well when it was dark
Villagers and forest officials lowered a makeshift ladder into the pit
After some encouragement the leopard left its post and climbed out
It was later checked for injury before being released back to the forest


A leopard was rescued by a group of villagers after it fell down and got stuck in a well in India.
Awesome World reported on their YouTube channel that locals to the area and forest officials helped with the rescue of the animal that was estimated to be around two-to-three-years-old.
The leopard was believed to have mistakenly jumped into the well in the dark and had spent some part-submerged in the water.

3. The video was interesting...

although the first minute is mostly them discussing what to do, in hindi (maybe). Their solution was very clever. They lowered an ad-hoc ladder into the well; at the top it led right into a metal cage. They spilled some water on his head to annoy him enough to get him moving. Once he spotted the ladder, he promptly climbed up it and into the cage.

His Spottiness did not look like a subject for hug-your-cat day, though.

6. I don't really get why it couldn't get out...

It wasn't injured, and there were several levels that it should have been able to jump up to. Cool video and story though.

He might have been swimming for a long time in the dark until he found the ledge. And leopards, unlike tigers, hate the water. So glad they got him out! Cool people. The net was a good idea.
