legally blind Little Rock, Arkansas man who can be seen on video complying with police officers is asking why the officers roughly threw him to the ground in a June 1 incident, resulting in a back injury, local station Fox 16 reports.
In a police report obtained by Fox 16, one of the officers claims that Eric Wilson pulled away violently causing me to lose grip, and he was afraid that Wilson would strike myself or my partner with the handcuff.i
But video of the incident shows nothing of the sort.
Wilson, who told reporters he can only see shadows, can be seen walking toward the two police officers when they summon him. When they tell him to take his hands out of his pockets, he does so. The video shows Wilson standing quietly with his hands behind his back as the officer goes to handcuff him. The officer then suddenly pushes Wilson to the ground.
----
Police reported seeing a black handle sticking out of Wilsons pocket. That turned out to be a clock designed to read the time for blind people.

(61,033 posts)It's sad that too many cops are so stupid they still persist in mistreating innocent POC when it has to have dawned on them that cameras are everywhere now that exposes their lies.
But then again, maybe it hasn't dawned on them not the sharpest knives in the drawer.

(3,366 posts)Video said cops were responding to a call reporting a man "fitting Wilson's description" (I guess that means "African American"
who was running away or chasing something & appeared to be afraid.
So that's how they treated someone calmly walking, calmly complying. Not only the sudden violent takedown, but the all-too-familiar subsequent lies justifying their actions. Wilson "pulled away violently"... they were "afraid."
They had no reason to handcuff him at all!
I would really hesitate to ever call the cops... my call may end up in some innocent person (or his/her dog) being killed, tazed, beaten, etc. Maybe even myself!
Who are the liars here? Who are the thugs here? Cops are no better, and many times much worse, than those they are supposed to be arresting.
