I do think he was alluding to the power of money without political care considered. Once one realizes the rampant abuse and destruction of our future the mechanisms of their investments or patronage create they, hopefully, mend their ways. If indeed they care to embody the political, religious or ethical standards they place upon themselves.

necessarily completely un-related to what the refer to.

Though collective decisions of ALL types have always been the privilege of wealth in this country, so we don't have a basis of comparison against which to test the current valence of "more dependent", that doesn't mean that something CAN'T change, and it especially doesn't mean that when the definition of that "something" is limited by the corruption of money which has oppressed us from the beginning in the first place.

He clearly speaks of the influence of money, and he says that it is political non participants that cause that to be the case....
"He doesn't know, the imbecile, that from his political non-participation comes the prostitute, the abandoned child, the robber and worst of all, corrupt officials, the lackeys of exploitative multinational corporations."
See. From the apathy comes the corruption and misplaced loyalties of those so corrupted. So to say 'well, it is all about money' is not to answer Brecht, who is also saying it is about money and saying apathetic people are the reason that is possible. Jaded cynic is a brand of apathy, by the way....

quite a few such people who think that staying out of "politics" makes them superior. They really are the ones who complain first and loudest when the President or Congress acts against their opinions. Most seem to use call in shows on C-Span to let everyone know how ignorant they truly are.
