last night it felt like someone near me was shelling the nearby town.

I hope that no one with PTSD was nearby.

with fireworks that don't sound like gunshots and are designed to be looked at rather than making noise just for the sake of making noise. I don't want to have to keep guessing whether somebody is getting shot nearby and whether I should turn off my lights or not.

Just kidding. This year wasn't bad, and keeping the windows closed and using the A/C helped to dampen the noise. It was MUCH better than last year.
