If he were my son I would spank him.
Thats how the widow of a North Carolina man whose name was presented at a polling station by an activist working with James OKeefes Project Veritas responded to a video the group released this week showing an individual using her deceased husbands name.
As Media Matters points out, Michael Bolton, Jr. a very much alive son of the widow who spoke to TPM is registered to vote at the same address as his recently deceased father. The poll watcher in the extended version of the OKeefe video asks if he was the junior Bolton to which the Project Veritas operative responds: That would be correct.
I dont like the way they just felt that they could use my husbands name and put it out there, the widow told TPM. It just wasnt right. My husband just died, and then they do that? Why didnt they use somebody from a year ago or five years ago. It was just very insensitive.

(103,856 posts)get married? when the marriage is registered and the new married name is recorded, the voter registration name is also "corrected".. no fuss no muss
and you should not have to physically GO to the DMV for the name change.. You should just receive a notice to send money (if your state makes you pay) and then a new ones is mailed to you.
same goes for naturalization
turning 18 ....just registers as independent (and for those who say "but what if they are not a citizen?".. the first time they actually show up to vote, they can prove it..)
death certificates should also trigger removal from voter lists

(5,477 posts)OKeefe presented it as though the father (Sr) is registered, but in reality it was clear all along that it was the son (Jr) who was actually registered.

(103,856 posts)but I still think the "vulnerability" that republicans like him like to capitalize on, is also the issue.
Make it an automatic thing, and they will have less to fuss over...even though the "problem" is mostly created by them

(80,708 posts)I mean, didn't he BREAK THE LAW? And isn't everyone who BREAKS THE LAW supposed to be IN JAIL?
That's what our erstwhile lawn/order defenders of the drug war say, as they salivate over the prospect of throwing wheelchair-bound cancer patients in prison cells.
So, why is he free?

(163,986 posts)Some realtor convinced my mom to tweet Congress "to protect the American dream" of home ownership and I suspect, against regulating Wall Street, something she wouldn't do without being handled.

(24,721 posts)required to vote. My mom's driver's license has long expired; she's not in good health to get one.
If I remember correctly, your mom & mine are the same age or close -- 81 -- & I understand how elderly, independent women could easily be manipulated through misrepresentation. I'm sure you were livid when you found out about the realtor, especially because of the difficulties your mom has had with the mortgage vultures.
