Because the media has misreported a number of items, and left out a few important items. I've just finished skimming through, and will note mistakes I found and some things I found of interest. But really, read it yourself.
http://msnbcmedia.msn.com/i/msnbc/sections/news/Zimmerman_Discovery.pdf
Yesterday one or more articles incorrectly reported the gunshot wound was to the left atrium.
Per Medical Examiner's report: The trajectory of the shot was: skin, left anterior; 5th intercostal space (between ribs); pericardial sac; RIGHT VENTRICLE; RIGHT LOWER LOBE OF LUNG.
Bullet fragments were recovered from the pericardial sac and right pleural cavity.
Some people have claimed that Martin was 6'3 or 6'4. Per the report, he was 71" tall. 5'11 -- 2" taller than Zimmerman, not 5 or 6. He weighed 158 pounds with a BMI of 22, which is normal weight for his height.
Intermediate wound w/2"x2" pattern.
DNA samples from Zimmerman's gun: major contributor throughout confirmed as Zimmerman. Minor contributor in one spot ruled out Martin, on holster could not rule out Martin.
Blood under Martin fingernails on his right hand was his own. No dna results for left hand.
Martin lower sleeves -- Zimmerman DNA confirmed
Holes in Martin's sweatshirt and hoodie -- contact wound
Blood stains on Zimmerman jacket -- Zimmerman DNA confirmed. Martin possible contributor to some stains.
The witness reports are also very interesting. I was an eye witness to a middle of night room invasion back in my college days. It's important to state that with 3 of us, lights on, staring at this strange (drugged out) guy, talking him into leaving and then calling the cops...we got his clothes all wrong. It's very, very hard to be a really good eye witness when you are very emotional. On the other hand, we were awakened in the middle of the night, so we were groggy.
3 witnesses saw person with red jacket on the bottom, yelling for help. 1 of them was only 30 feet away, watching from his living room window and saw the person on top "pummeling"with "mixed martial art" punches.
1 eye witness said it was the boy crying for help.
On 2/28 the police got a phone call from an anonymous female, who disclosed that Zimmerman has racist tendencies and is fully capable of instigating a confrontation. They were unable to identity the person or corroborate the claim, but did record a portion of the call. (Hopefully this person and others will step forward, if not to the police, then to the FBI).
1 witness observed 2 men in a chase, with the person in pursuit 10-12' behind, then a fistfight. Couldn't identify (contact lenses out). The chase took place in the direction where "T" in walkway leads toward Retreat View Circle or Twin Trees Lane.
1 witness heard crying or moaning in desperation. One individual was standing over the other and appeared to be holding a person to the ground by pressing on his back. Adamant that there was no physical fighting at the time the gunshot rang out.
1 witness heard someone yelling, "I've got a gun. I've got a gun. Take my gun from me."
1 witness heard voice crying for help. Looked out window and observed person crying for help. Observed a neighbor she couldn't identify ask if the person on the ground was ok, and the person on the ground said "call 911." She retreated to her bathroom to watch from inside there. As she raised the window she heard a "pop" sound.
One witness described the voices as a loud, dominant, argumentative voice and a young person's voice. The young person's voice was the one calling for help.

(14,881 posts)But a 2" difference in height does not equate to "towering over" as some people here have suggested.

(14,881 posts)but a little of Martin's blood spattered onto him.
It means most of the dna found on the gun came from Zimmerman himself. There are small amounts of dna from somebody else that can't be profiled enough to rule Martin in or out. And a very small amount of Martin's on the holster suggest he may have touched it. But there isn't enough there to support him grabbing or wrestling for the gun.
And it means that at some point, Zimmerman's hands or head (the only exposed parts of his body) came in contact with the lower sleeves of Martin's hoodie.

(24,128 posts)It's interesting how witness accounts differ. It's much better to read these than it is to read speculation from the media. From looking at this evidence, it seems reasonably clear what happened and how the prosecution will present the case.

(29,047 posts)I believe concealed carriers are instructed to say something like that to the police in those situations.
But I don't really know when he said that, I am just guessing.

The witness reports all differ. It's interesting to read their own reports (in longhand) near the end of this pdf.

(28,466 posts)He certainly seems like he had some problem with anxiety. Tamazepam is prescribed for severe sleep disorders, and the other drug is for gastrointestinal disorders. (Though that could also have been a side effect of using the tamazepam.)

(14,881 posts)control centers in the brain. I had researched both drugs in another thread but can't find it now. They both can cause mood swings, both are addictive and both can cause withdrawal symptoms. This article also states that he'd had them prescribed within weeks of the shooting.

According to <a
href="http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmedhealth/PMH0000808/"the National Institute of Health, Temazepam is used to treat insomnia. Adderall is a Class II drug used in cases of Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD). According to Web MD, one of the possible reactions is aggressive behavior, something the prosecution is sure to mine.

(28,466 posts)The other drug was Librax, not Adderall, as reported by ABC.
magical thyme
(14,881 posts)but didn't see anything about Zimmerman's prescriptions. Going through it specifically for that now, but I'm on dialup so it takes forever to download.
That mistake is amazing, considering that Libraz and Adderall aren't even close in spelling...

(28,466 posts)183? I'm not on my home computer so don't want to open the link again, but I remember it's the second to last page.
It could be that ABC got a verbal leak and reported on that before getting hard copy confirmation.
