Please promise me this...

If I am ever walking alone at night in my own neighborhood, and an armed man starts following me in his car, and then gets out of his car and follows me by foot, and then chases me when I run away, and then catches up with me, and I am unarmed, and I'm 17, and I don't have a criminal record, and I wasn't in the process of committing any crime, and the man who chased me has a history of violence including against a police officer, and he was heard to have called me a derogatory name under his breath right before he started chasing me, and I end up dead minutes later with a bullet through my chest although no one saw exactly what happened during that brief time, and the man who shot me claims he had to do it because otherwise I might have killed him with my bare hands, and he's scuffed up a bit but appears fine for the most part, and he chooses not to get medical treatment, and the police decide to accept this man's claim that I was going to kill him, and they don't arrest him, and they don't test him for drugs, and they don't bother to do much investigating, until finally a month later my grieving parents have managed to drum up enough public pressure that the police finally do start investigating and an arrest is made, and I have none of my killer's DNA under my fingernails during the autopsy, and I have no wounds on my knuckles except for a minuscule abrasion on my left ring finger...

Please, please, please make sure you give my killer the benefit of the doubt as to what occurred during those missing minutes. Please remember that no one in the history of America was ever put away for a crime unless there were witnesses or video documenting that crime as it occurred in real time.

Did I leave anything out?

... "no one in the history of America was ever put away for a crime unless there were witnesses or video documenting that crime as it occurred in real time" is wholly false. Thousands of people have been convicted of crimes with no witnesses.

I forgot about the part that a big reason for all the attention (rightly so--so rare for such murders) is Trayvon's loving parents.

Without them.......... what?
