A lesser marketing department would have been nervous about Jon Stewart lambasting the Arbys brand every chance he got. Stewart is a pretty compelling and convincing guy with a gigantic audience. Would have been easier to ignore it just be thankful that it was Stewarts last show.
But Arbys took a much riskier and counterintuitive path: creating an ad that highlights Stewarts negative rants about its brand. Let me repeat that. Arbys created an ad that highlights Stewarts negative rants about its brand. And paid Comedy Central for the privilege of running it.
But heres the thing. In doing so, Arbys showed Stewarts audience that they understand the vibe of The Daily Show. Being self-effacing and not offended signals supreme confidence, and confident brands are attractive brands.

(28,400 posts)2. I kinda figured Arbys took it as fun-loving since there was never any backlash.
But I still wondered what they thought.
Their goodbye to Jon was a very high compliment - funny. Randy Newman singing his Friend song is icing on the cake.
Damn, I still miss Colbert, and losing Jon, too, is just so damn sad.

Not that I'm nitpicking but Trevor is replacing one of the greatest hosts cable has ever seen. Especially with election 2016 coming up and President Trump.
Although they should have a never ending source of material there.
