wildly profitable for the one percent, when it could have been the great restoration of the middle class (and by secondary effect, the working classes, as workers are attracted away from the blue collar jobs, which raises their wages)

Not for me, I was a prime member and they cancelled my account and shut me out because I refused to keep the junk they sell....I sent too much stuff back

I'm an old bat with advanced arthritis and I'd like to shop there more but hate the way they treat their workers.

Amazon is cutting its own throat with me. I'm one of the few people out there with a lot of money to spend.
