TX GOP Agriculture Commissioner Sid Miller Suggests Nuking Entire Muslim World

When you think of an agriculture commissioner, partisan politics and religious zealotry are probably not the first things that come to mind. In Texas, Ag Commissioner Sid Miller isn’t just content to involve himself in all matters farming; it turns out that he also has a streak of xenophobia and bigotry a country mile long.
Yesterday, Sid Miller shared a post from a right-wing Facebook page that suggested nuclear war with the Muslim world was the best way to deal with what the far right sees as an ongoing conflict with the entire Islamic religion....
It’s not uncommon to see posts like this on social media; we all have that one relative who thinks that most of the world’s problems can be solved with guns and bombs. However, this is an elected official in one of the biggest states in the country. While many Republican politicians (with the exception of congressman and fellow Texan Louie Gohmert) wink and nod at rabid anti-Muslim sentiments, Sid Miller openly displayed his bigoted and completely ignorant beliefs on his public Facebook page for all to see.
Can you imagine if an elected official like Bernie Sanders or Elizabeth Warren had shared something saying that the best way to deal with racism is to drop nuclear bombs across the southern United States? The uproar would be justified and widespread, but here we have someone who was elected to deal with matters of agriculture putting in his opinion on how America should deal with foreign affairs.
