The following day, she asked the police to investigate the incident and specifically policeman Fitzpatrick. Her attorney Brett Szematowicz asked for the dash cam video of the stop and was told by both the state and the Tampa Police Department that no video of the incident existed.
They lied about it, Vargas said. The state attorneys office told 8 On Your Side that it became aware in April, that the video existed.(my emphasis)
But Szematowicz still had to file a motion to compel orderin June. How clearly guilty is this department of malfeasance or at the very least criminal incompetence?

(111,332 posts)they've all been sold on the idea that they're an army of occupation and we the people are the occupied. It explains so much about their conduct over many decades, ever since Nixon started to militarize them to get around Posse Comitatus and go after those scruffy hippies.
The DOJ has got to step in on some of these really outrageous cases of traffic stops becoming excuses for 'roid rage in cops. There has got to be a crackdown on steroid abuse, along with all the other abuses. The police have got to be demilitarized.
