WASHINGTON -- Hillary Clinton has long been a champion of policies to facilitate work-life balance, particularly for women. Yet as secretary of state, members of her staff reported feeling stressed and found it difficult to take time off.
Part of the trove of State Department emails released late Monday show staffers discussing the breakneck pace of their work and imploring each other to take days off.
In one 2009 email, Anne-Marie Slaughter urged top Clinton aide Huma Abedin to begin her Christmas vacation a few days early, on Dec. 21. "I would urge you to -- for your own sake. The pace is absolutely killing and you deserve it, she told Abedin.
Slaughter added that if Abedin, then Clintons deputy chief of staff, decided to take that day off, other staffers would feel much freer to do so.

(14,255 posts)personal emails separate is a good idea. Someone had to have an inkling that this was going to happen, I would have thought.

(14,255 posts)The GOP hates her anyway. So I don't see exactly "what" would turn in her favor, really. IMO it is just a waste of time, and then a wash. Only important to the GOP. And they are not really logical, so facts won't matter.

(92,190 posts)Who support Hillary will continue to do so. Those who are not political junkies, but have been hearing the constant barrage of negative news regarding them, those are the ones I am talking about. Baring emails of a real crime, this will turn in her favor
