Gilbert Flores Shooting by Bexar County Deputies Near San Antonio Sparks Outcry. ANTONIO - KSAT12 News has obtained exclusive cellphone video capturing a fatal Bexar County sheriff's deputy-involved shooting Friday in the 24400 block of Walnut Pass.
KSAT12 has made the editorial decision to freeze the video right before the shooting occurs that leads to the death of the suspect.
The video above shows the moments leading up to the fatal shots and stops just before the shots were fired. The sound from the recording continues over the freeze frame.
The video was obtained from Michael Thomas, who witnessed the shooting and contacted KSAT12.
*The video shows the shirtless suspect running through the front yard of the home.
"I was watching and wondering, what was going on, but I couldn't figure it out. I was like, with the things going on in the world, like different type of shootings with cops and different things like that, so I was like, 'Well, maybe I can catch something with my camera,'" Thomas said.
The video shows the deputies follow the man to the edge of the driveway.
"He kind of just put his hands in the air. After he put his hands in the air, they shot him," Thomas said.
The man was shot twice and died a short time afterward, the sheriff's officials said."

(13,877 posts)"full investigation" means dragging it out until no one cares or forgets, then cops are back and business as usual.
There must be civilian oversight, other than the random cell phone captures.

(3,183 posts)There has to be a logical explanation for shooting a man that has his hands in the air. If this man was unarmed and surrendering then this is a flat out execution. I don't get it.

(13,877 posts)or...you know, all those death penalty kind of things. Couldn't tell the race of the victim, one just supposes he was black, but maybe not. I'm all for training them for other occupations, rather than cushy time outs at home, rinse and repeat.

(13,069 posts)The man had a knife, had just attacked his wife and infant. The video guy said he only saw one hand up. The other hand held a knife.

(3,183 posts)Unless he's a ninja warrior knife throwing expert I still don't see a reason to kill him. He wasn't close enough to police to pose a threat. I remember when suspects were arrested and not shot on the spot.

(13,877 posts)so to speak. It is sobering...and disturbing. The deceased went over to the cop car two or three times...helmet and dash cams...mandatory.
