About a dozen journalists came to the aid of the WDBJ station in Roanoke, Virginia after two members of their staff were killed on air last week. Some of the staff that came in covered overnight shifts to allow staffers to sleep and grieve; other volunteers just managed Facebook comments. Even rival TV stations in Roanoke offered to provide news footage to the station after the shooting because no crews were sent out for the rest of the day. Many members of the staff at the station kept working through the weekend after the shooting and those who had come in from other states remained to allow staffers to attend the funerals of Alison Parker and Adam Ward.
