Jailed Kentucky Clerk Files Presidential Candidate Papers

by
Minny T. Julep

Kim Davis, the Kentucky County Clerk still in a jail cell on a contempt of court charge, has used her plentiful time to make a decision. She's running for President as a Republican! That came as a surprise to Republican candidates, since Davis is a registered Democrat in her home state. In an exclusive jailhouse interview, this reporter asked her some questions about her candidacy:

Q. Why are you entering this race?
A. Well, I may need a new job soon, and I have some experience with manipulating and winning elections.

Q. You are a registered Democrat. Why change parties?
A. I finally realized that the Republican party is closer to my highly prejudiced, fundamentalist, anti-gay views. Becoming a Republican was a no-brainer, really.

Q. Do you think you really have a chance at getting the nomination?
A. Well, I have that name recognition now, and look at that Trump clown who's the leader. Apparently, Republicans will vote for any idiot whose name they know.

At that point, a guard appeared and insisted that this reporter leave the jailhouse ASAP. We hope to continue the interview at a later time. Watch for updates soon.

She's really as qualified as any of the Republican candidates. And she's been to jail for her religion. That should be a plus.
