How many Confederacy-tied Alexandria streets can you name? (VA)

“... there is little gained for Alexandria to re-litigate a war that concluded 150 years ago ... However, our community has changed over 150 years. Honors and commemorations that seemed appropriate a century, or even 40 years ago, may no longer be appropriate in a modern Alexandria. Furthermore, a modern Alexandria should focus not just on what should be removed or renamed, but how to portray a more accurate and fair telling of our history.”

Last year, the city formally took a law off the books requiring new north-south streets be named after Confederate military.

In Alexandria, according to the Office of Historic Alexandria, there are 31 streets names linked to the Confederacy and another 33 that might be linked ...

Demanded by the residents and granted by Congress.

This is not what President George Washington wanted.
