A ride back in time: Honda auction of vintage bikes in Iowa draws about 2,000 U.S., abroad

GREENFIELD, Iowa — It was the 1960s again Sunday in Greenfield — and the ’70s and ’80s, too — thanks to two-wheeled time machines.

The Greenfield Honda liquidation auction of more than 100 vintage bikes from the era attracted motorcycle aficionados from across the country and abroad.

Some came for the history. Others brought their checkbooks.

Tony Flatt of Winterset, Iowa, did both. He admired a 1974 Honda XL250 parked near the end of a grassy lot the size of a football field, filled with motorcycles and a few antique tractors and vintage cars.

to buy parts for his 20+ 60's-70's Hondas.Just tried to call him,no answer.

In "The Chrysanthemum and the Sword." Don Draper talks about how they didn't get the account, but they'll be the first in the door when it's time to sell "their little car."
