WASHINGTON— American Federation of Teachers Randi Weingarten on Hillary Clinton’s plan to reform campaign finance.

"When a handful of wealthy Americans are allowed to buy and sell an election, our democracy fails its most important mission: to work for all our people. Unlimited and unaccountable sums of money are perverting outcomes in our elections and making our economy work for only a select few. It's a real and present danger to the hopes and aspirations of millions of everyday Americans.

"The balance of power in America is out of whack. Hillary Clinton has a bold plan to rewrite the rules so that every voter matters and every vote counts. We're excited to work with Hillary to make the United States a democracy that is truly—as I taught my civics students every year—"of the people, by the people, for the people."
