At least I hope it's still alive. . .
I was walking to work from the train and I pass this parking garage. As a preventative, the garage has these God-awful bird distress sounds and I cringe every time I walk past. Sometimes I look down at the grates and I'll see dead birds (sadness). Today I saw 3 -- horrible and I kept making the sign of the cross on myself (at least subtly).
Then I looked and there was a bird that seemed to be alive, in the middle of a grate, but not flying away from me. I was able to coax it to on a small notebook I was carrying (its legs were OK) and just put it on a side growing area.
I hope it's still alive and just stunned. I've done this before and it's a great feeling. Just nice to save something so precious. I almost could hear it say "thanks - nope, not afraid of you."
Let's all give a moment of silence to that bird and wish it safety and happiness.

does the garage have a big dead-bird problem, it sounds like?
