(After Trump strode to the podium at one of his appearances with R.E.M.'s "The End of the World" playing in the background):

....."Go fuck yourselves, the lot of you--you sad, attention grabbing, power-hungry little men. Do not use our music or my voice for your moronic charade of a campaign."......

to use a specific song, you'd think they'd consider the opportunity it gives musicians to issue a well-deserved public dressing-down.

He doesn't have the 1400 billion dollars that I do, I can buy and sell people like him while I'm having my first cup of coffee in the morning! Because I am a very smart man and a very rich man. The beauty of me is that I am very rich!

first to get permission to play that music. I remember Jerry Rivera (spanish artist) got pissed off when Shakira "ripped off" a piece of his music. He calmed down after finding out his label gave her permission to use it. Maybe the same thing happens with the GOP. I haven't seen an artist sucessfully sue a GOP candidate over their use of a song in court.

with a certain amount of bars of music used. That is why you'll hear rightwing radio jocks do lead ins and then the music fades.

I'm not certain how much they are allowed to use under that regulation though, and, of course, I may be wrong.(apologies to Billy Joel)
