Republican’s mind blown when witness tells him some Planned Parenthood patients are mothers

“I’d like to know what your priority is,” he repeated, “Planned Parenthood or feeding hungry children?”

Smith pointed out that some of Planned Parenthood’s services, such as affordable contraception, testing for sexually transmitted infections and cancer screenings, might help the mothers of those poor children.

For Sensenbrenner, that did not compute.

“How can they be the mothers of the children when children are aborted through Planned Parenthood?” Sensenbrenner said.

Smith reminded the congressman that about 60 percent of women who seek an abortion have at least one child, and she told him that access to contraception reduces the number of unwanted pregnancies — and thus, abortions.

“Well, I don’t think that there’s statistics that indicate that’s the case,” Sensenbrenner said

Sensenbrenner was born in Chicago, Illinois. As one of the heirs to the Kimberly-Clark fortune,[citation needed] he grew up in very comfortable circumstances.

Numbers may be fine but they don't match the pictorial slicing of the chart. "15% married" plus "29% living together" adds up to 44% yet it shown as greater than 50% of the pie.

When my sister and I were young, you couldn't get birth control pills unless you were married, period the end - at least here in No. FL. If there were liberal doctors who didn't follow those rules, we never met them. We went to Planned Parenthood, received free contraceptives, so no unwanted pregnancies and no abortions needed.

Thank God for Planned Parenthood! They are our sisters of the heart, caring for young poor women when no one else will.

The staggering stupidity of that statement is mind-boggling. Easier access to contraception has been proven beyond the remotest shadow of a doubt to greatly reduce unwanted pregnancies - DUH! - which, even by the twisted logic that governs what passes for thought in the fevered brains of conservatives, means that abortions are likewise reduced.

But Sensenbrenner, like every conservative, embraces Ayn Rand's malevolent hatred of altruism in ANY form, and an organization that exists to help people is anathema to scum like Sensenbrenner. Lying, cheating, and fabricating "evidence" is perfectly justifiable if it serves the Republican Party's only real purpose: Obstructing anything and everything proposed by Democrats, and destroying any organization that Democrats support.

These swine are incapable of governing responsibly, so they are reduced to creating a cacophony of sound and fury, signifying nothing.

My hatred of the Republican party burns hotter than the surface of the Sun.

I suppose the same goes for facts in general. And science, well, that's just some sort of liberal hoax. All that matters is what the Bible says. Well, what conservatives THINK it says. According to them, Jesus was pro-death penalty, pro-rich people, pro-war, anti-abortion, anti-poor people, and anti-gay.

Not only doesn't he think statistics exist that disprove his position, he won't bother to check. Republicans don't bother doing the homework. They just guess an answer and argue when the teacher marks it as wrong. (Teachers are probably democrats anyway.)

disabled daughter was confronting conservatives who thought that welfare - in any form - was wrong. The first thing I let them know was that I was on welfare with three kids. Horrible Just horrible!

Then I would introduce them to my baby. Sweet darling little girl who was obviously severely disabled. Most had never seen such a disabled child because most of these children were in institutions. Hidden away. Shocking Just shocking!

Then I would explain why we were on welfare. My explanation included the cost of the institution and the cost of home care. And remind them about all the children in the institutions. Stunned Just stunned!

And then I would sit back and wait. Because invariable they would explain to me that I was different. And I would explain why they were wrong. I was a single mother just like the other recipients.
Upset Just upset that I should think that the others were like me.

I don't know that I ever convinced a single one of them.

What I am getting at here is that the way they think about Planned Parenthood is exactly how they think about all the safety net programs. They do not need them so why should anyone else. They have no way of envisioning what it is like outside their own small worlds.

He voted to cut SNAP, which in part funds school lunch programs. The GOP cuts food stamps and social programs. Red states refuse to expand Medicaid, yet we should now BELIEVE they are concerned about the people they proved they don't care about. Just think what would happen if the GOP got their hands on the money that funds PP. It would go to those poor suffering wealthy people in more tax breaks and corporate handouts. Sensenbrenner asks Smith what HER priority is. Well, we KNOW what his is!

he is in a very red and safe district.

every cycle there are rumors that the teaparty will primary him..be a great waste of money they sober up and find someone else.

he holds town hall meeting like a crazed fool...by that i mean all the damn time and all over his district.
i was at one today. He usually has a state senate or assembly rep in tow...alway a gop guy cause the area is that red.
He answers questions that he know will not be friendly...today he called on me.....
He does not have to hedge his mouth cause he is that fucking safe
He is probably the most available of any elected official in my area.

he has some quirks--like support for the voting rights act that draws the tea party primary threats.
and he has some huge blind spots...ie the topic of this post.

but do not think getting rid of him will be a walk in the park.
