NYC woman -- black, of course -- spent 8 days in mental ward because police thought she was delusional.

Her delusions? That she was the owner of her BMW. That she was a banker. That Obama follows her on Twitter.

I say, "black, of course" because the likelihood that police would have treated a successful white woman this way is probably close to nil.

The suit details how Brock pulled up to a traffic light in Harlem on Sept. 12, 2014, the music on her car stereo playing loudly. An NYPD officer approached her and asked why she was driving without her hands on the steering wheel, according to the suit.

"I said I was dancing, I am at a light," Brock told PIX11. "He asked me to get out of the car."

For unclear reason, Brock contends, she was taken into custody and transported to the NYPD's 30th Precinct, where she was held for a few hours before being released without being charged with any crime. She said she was told to come back the next day to pick up her car, a 2003 BMW 325Ci.

When she showed up at a police substation to get the car the next day, Brock said, "I just felt like from the moment I said I owned a BMW, I was looked at as a liar. They put me in handcuffs and said they just need to put me in handcuffs to take me to my car. And I said OK, whatever it's gonna take to get to my car."

"He held onto me and then the doctor stuck me in the arm and I was on a stretcher and I woke up to them taking my clothes off, specifically my underwear," Brock tearfully recalled for PIX11's Nicole Johnson. "Then I went back out again. When I woke up the next day, I felt like I was in a nightmare. I didn't understand why that was happening to me."

This state's mental "health" system is out of control, and even white, middle class people can and do end up getting shanghaied into the system, and getting horribly abused, even to the point of forced electroshock.

I hope she and her lawyer take them to the fucking cleaners.

NYC, I've noticed. They must have a lot of asshole cops up there. Why in the world should some woman driving an old BMW be treated like a mental patient? She was dancing to her stereo during a red light. People do that shit around here all the time. I see people drinking beer, smoking cigarettes, eating, and God knows what else in traffic, and no one goes to jail, much less a mental hospital. She's not crazy, but the people who arrested her need evaluation, right before they fire their asses.

Ours goes back over a hundred years. Most of the cops in Harlem are not Black or Latino cops, their old school Irish and Italian cops that are put in our neighborhood. Added to that we have been targeted forever. We have what we call "sweeps" periodically where a police truck is parked they line up our boys against a wall and arrest them. My Anthropology professor was taken in, in a sweep.

Now the shit is, our neighborhood is now very popular for white people, low rent but definitely great neighborhoods, Harlem is not like something from American Gangster & New Jack City. It could be 2am and you can just walk around without being attacked and you are utterly safe. In order to accomodate this new population they are now policing us more. More so than they did under Guiliani and I can tell you...under that cop once twilight hit your ass was in your home.

Gentrification is a bitch, White moving into the area is a bigger bitch, and now the cops meeting the supposed needs of these people has made our lives that much more fucked than the norm.

I've never been there, and I only have one friend there. He was living in Manhattan, but I think he lives in Brooklyn now. When he was living in Manhattan, he had to share a place with other people.

I know that Harlem is in Manhattan, and I read about the Harlem Renaissance back in school, but I don't know much else about it. Manhattan's rents have gone so far out of control that it isn't surprising that those with middle incomes are encroaching on Harlem. I would imagine that a lot of those cops are living there now, and they're probably trying to run off a lot of the black people and other minorities. Cops are the rich man's thugs, and they do what they're told.

I'm sure that Harlem landlords are trying their best to turn Harlem into another $3000 per month gold mine. It's just that these other, um, lower income people are getting in their way. Send the cops in to arrest them for breathing, and maybe they'll get sick of the hassle and go to the Bronx or someplace. People get tired of being in the way, though. Just ask the Indians. Sooner or later, they want the reservation, too.
