McConnell On Obama: At Least Jimmy Carter Was Incompetent!

McConnell On Obama: At Least Jimmy Carter Was Incompetent!

Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell declined an opportunity to attack the Obama campaign for scrutinizing Mitt Romney’s record at Bain Capital. Instead, at his weekly Capitol briefing, he provided GOP surrogates everywhere a textbook example of how to change the subject, and then damn with faint praise.

Campaigns are a pretty robust discussion about the future. I do think it’s interesting to note that the whole notion of earned success and capitalism seems to be under attack by this administration across the board. Not just in the campaign, but through the actions of the government itself. They seem to have forgotten what made this country great, and what has lifted literally millions of Americans out of poverty for a long time has been a robust capitalist system. I think the view of this admin is that if you’re making a profit you must be up to no good. You must be either mistreating your employees or cheating your customers or both. They’re here to help us. Of course their ever-helpful approach to this is the reason we’re having such a difficult time coming out of this economic slowdown. This is certainly the most anti-business administration since the Carter years, and at least you could say this for President Carter: he was largely incompetent. This administration has actually done a lot of damage to the country. We hope we can begin to clean up the mess and repair the damage after the election.

Poor Mitch! He's aligned with Bush, the worst President ever, and trying to hide behind myths.

First things first. Bush's economic record sucked! Even the WSJ agrees:

Bush On Jobs: The Worst Track Record On Record

By WSJ Staff

President George W. Bush entered office in 2001 just as a recession was starting, and is preparing to leave in the middle of a long one. That’s almost 22 months of recession during his 96 months in office.

His job-creation record won’t look much better. The Bush administration created about three million jobs (net) over its eight years, a fraction of the 23 million jobs created under President Bill Clinton‘s administration and only slightly better than President George H.W. Bush did in his four years in office.

Here’s a look at job creation under each president since the Labor Department started keeping payroll records in 1939. The counts are based on total payrolls between the start of the month the president took office (using the final payroll count for the end of the prior December) and his final December in office.

Because the size of the economy and labor force varies, we also calculate in percentage terms how much the total payroll count expanded under each president. The current President Bush, once taking account how long he’s been in office, shows the worst track record for job creation since the government began keeping records. –

Secondly, Bush's economic record sucked before the crisis.

<...>

The employment recovery during Mr. Bush's first term was very sluggish, and private employment was down 913,000 jobs at the end of his first term. The recovery has been sluggish under Mr. Obama's presidency too, but there are now 35 thousand more private sector payroll jobs than when Mr. Obama's term started.

Finally, Bush's entire Presidency sucked!

Now, whatever anyone wants to say about Carter, his job-creation record makes Bush an embarrassment.

Under Carter, more than 10 million jobs were created (and that's in one term). That's about 5 million jobs more than both Bushes combined. That's 2 million more than Reagan's average. By comparison, Reagan only created 5 million jobs in his first term. In fact, during the Clinton years, there were more jobs created (23 million, two terms) than Reagan (16 million in two terms) and both Bushes (5.5 million across three terms), combined. In terms of average job creation, Carter is third, behind Clinton and Reagan's second term.

Republicans can't seem to live down the embarrassment that was the Bush Presidency, a disgraceful record they helped to perpetrate, so they must rely on obfuscation and red herrings.

To quote DUer gulliver:

The real reason Republicans have been trying to sabotage Obama and the country is humiliation, personal humiliation. Their man, George W. Bush, was president for eight years, and their party also held majorities in Congress for most that time. And the result? Well, to put it mildly, they basically peed their pants on live TV with the world watching. Republicans cheered Bush as he cut taxes. They whistled and applauded when he strutted around on the deck of that aircraft carrier in the full flight suit. They were riding high...And then everything went horribly, horribly wrong. All on their watch. All in broad daylight...

Mitch and Republicans are having a hard time trying push their propaganda because their attempt at sabotage hasn't worked out exactly as they had hoped. Things got done despite them.

It's too bad those hateful, disrespectful congresspersons don't just leave...the country, if possible. The damage they've done to this country makes me ill. I don't know if I can make it through this election. I have a sick feeling about it.

I also don't appreciate certain Democrats shooting off their mouths to protect their jobs.

McConnell will run for reelection two years after President Obama is re-elected. McConnell doesn't deserve another term in the Senate.

Very few (if ANY) notable dems EVER come to Carter's defense. By "going along" or allowing this to continue, they make it "true".

This is how we became the DemocRAT party, and how almost ALL repub spokespeople say things prefaced by :
"Everyone knows that......."
"We all know that....."
"It's a well-known fact that....."
etc

They talk fast..they interrupt every 7 seconds (there's actually a training class that teaches this technique)..they are bold, boisterous and they lie every time they open their mouths and they get away with it because no one ever calls them on their bullshit
