NO-ONE CAN SUBJUGATE ME! French Femen activists bare their breasts to the imams...

Don't necessarily agree with the action, but LOVE the chutzpah and the righteous anger!

NO-ONE CAN SUBJUGATE ME!

"Dirty whores, kill them!"

The "two imams were talking about the issue of whether or not a man could/should beat his wife," when the two activists aged 25 and 31, mounted the stage, said Inna Shevchenko, spokesperson for Femen in Paris.

In Arabic and French, they shouted the same slogans painted on their breasts and backs: "No-one subjugates me, no-one owns me, I am my own prophet."

The two young women were of Algerian and Tunisian origin, said the spokeswoman for Femen. Immediately, shouts of "Dirty whores, kill them!" reverberated again and again around the hall and "fifteen men jumped on the stage and overpowered them", says Inna Shevchenko, who was grateful that the police intervened quickly to protect the women.

And that is quite brave, how many people will actually stand up to bigotry backed by religion? It's not easy. Quite a few progressives even aid and abet bigoted religious institutions, and I can see them wanting to downplay the bravery here as they quietly support bigotry through their own institution and want to think it's morally OK to do so.

Whoever these women are or what they do for a living, they walked into a conference full of misogynists and protested for women's rights.

Did you watch the video? One guy even starts kicking the one woman as she's down.

They precisely exposed the female hating nature of the event by protesting with their female selves in their most elemental form while demanding equality.

The breathtaking part is they get beat at a conference discussing wife beating. I think its very powerful stuff.

I think they should burn the head scarves, too. These are both symbols of their passive submission, similar to old fashioned dress codes for women here in the old days. Once strictly enforced by church and school, their clothes were their outward sign of their acceptance of their submission - and it's making a comeback among Christian fundamentalists these days.

We men have had our time in the sun imo. Time to step back and let women rule the world or don't step back and they will anyway.
I, for one, am for stepping out of the way. Then again I believe in tranquility and the only way that can occur is if all of society is at peace. Never happen with only men in charge, history proves this every century.

Apparently female nipples are still very dangerous in our own society.

You'll notice that the photo from "Le Figaro" has no such hypocritical hiding.

Europeans are much less childishly prurient than Americans, as a general rule.

When the Femen activists took action, apparetly the speakefs were debating over wenhever could a Radical Muslim man could beat and rape his wife.
Governement let the Day of Anger took place whefr "death to Jews" could be heard.
They authorize the Jewish Defense League, utra RW aorganization witch is on USs terror list.
They are unable to deploy efficielt intel services agains jihadis.

I think our governement is so desperate about France economic disarray that somewhat they dont mind dividing people. So if a civil war erupts, which may be, as tve population will decline, thereafter the nation would have to be rebuilt and there will be lot of jobs. Like in the sixties.

as one currently at work, i don't find it inappropriate at all by my own standards.
however, i do get nervous that someone walking past my cubicle at that exact second might get the wrong idea. even if it doesn't result in the dreaded "carpet call," such out-of-context observations can still negatively impact the work environment.
