US arms maker markets Christian assault rifle
Miami (AFP) - An arms maker in Florida is engraving Christian symbols on its assault rifles, in a marketing ploy denounced by a Muslim group as fomenting "hatred, division and violence."
The "Cruzado" assault rifle is inscribed with the cross of the Knights Templar, a religious order that fought in the Crusades, and a psalm from the Bible -- features that its maker, Spike's Tactical, says are intended to keep the weapons out of Muslim hands.
"We wanted to make sure we built a weapon that would never be able to be used by Muslim terrorists to kill innocent people or advance their radical agenda," said Ben Thomas, spokesman for the company, which is based in Apopka, Florida.
The Christian symbols would prevent the guns from being shipped to the Middle East, he said, claiming the rifles have been a hit with the company's customers.
"We sold out of rifles in the first 72 hours and there's a backlog of several weeks," he said, declining to say how many have sold.
The Florida branch of the Council on American-Islamic Relations issued a statement decrying "this manufacturer's fancy new gun."

(13,081 posts)There's a lot of money to be made in that market!
But then I remember that I have things like integrity, and a conscience, and a (metaphoric) soul.
For shits and giggles sometime, check out the Evangelical apologetics on why Jesus wasn't really a pacifist. The bending and twisting of the New Testament would be hilarious if so many people didn't get hurt.

(3,447 posts)...and MY GOD guns are expensive! Who has $1,500 laying around to spend on THAT?! I mean, the obvious ick factor aside (regarding this particular specimen; I am neither a gun nut nor for gun control), that's just a stupid quantity of money to spend on stuff.
Of course, I guess it helps when $1,500 isn't three years savings, but still.

(24,562 posts)more than an assault rifle. I recall from Sunday School lessons that Jesus always made sure to lock and load before moving out among the masses.

(24,562 posts)I haven't seen that one before, and it is perfect. I live among rabid god and gunz constituents, and often wonder (shudder) to think which definition of "peacemaker" they would use.

As WTSP notes, a Florida manof course its a Florida manis marketing a Christian assault rifle. The gun, which of course is known as the Crusader, is your basic AR-15 semiautomatic rifle, but with a verse from Psalm 144 etched into the magazine:
Blessed be the Lord my Rock, who trains my hands for war, my fingers for battle.
The gun is also adorned with a cross and Peace, War, and God Wills It in both English and Latin. A spokesman for Spikes Tactical, which is manufacturing the weapon, explained: We wanted to make sure we built a weapon that would never be able to be used by Muslim terrorists to kill innocent people or advance their radical agenda. The gun has a lifetime warranty, but theres no indication whether you can take into the eternal afterlife, or whether the warranty would apply.

I have no doubt that if Jesus came back today they'd shoot him.

(12,650 posts)In Islam, Christians and Jews are "people of the Book" ; the Koran is seen as the completion of both the Bible and the Torah; so pretty near anything inscribed with something that falls within the moral limits set by the Koran (like "war", "battle" or "God Wills it" - i.e. "Insha'Allah..." ) from the KJV would certainly not be haram to a Muslim terrorist.
Hint to the armchair warriors and other buttercup reactionaries...if you're determined to go to war, you really need to make the effort to clearly understand your enemy - and your own motivations for going to war.
Otherwise, you're the ignorant bad guy in the scenario.
"Crusader Rifle" indeed. I can see a bunch of ISIL wanna-be's purchasing them by the pallet just to play at their version of holy crusader. That is, if the damn thing has any quality to it to begin with. Due to the focus market, I suspect the manufacturer's production practices means the user may really need to pray any time s/he uses the product.
