So my wife knows the two ladies who went in to get their marriage license the other day, Carmen and Shannon Wampler-Collins, and it looks like their fight isn't over yet. It seems that what Kim did was deface the license, crossed out her name and some other stuff while writing in other things. The ACLU is worried that this invalidates the document since it's an official form and you can't go making changes on whim to it.
So the ladies are worried their license is worthless now. The ALCU is working on how to respond to this in court.
I'll have more info after tomorrow, my wife is going to interview Carmen tomorrow night on her talk show, so hopefully I can update this afterwords.

Kim doesnt want to live in a country where all are equal, she wants to live in a Sharia Law state where her specific version of a specific religion is the law.

(5,064 posts)They don't have vacation or sick time--they just take time off whenever. So she gets paid whether she's working or not.
They can have their pay docked for failing to perform their duties...but the state attorney general has chosen not to take action (probably because he's running for governor and doesn't want to ruffle the feathers of any voters).

(53,968 posts)She's playing with fire by defacing documents.
She could end up in jail again.
The judge told her not to interfere.
She's stubborn with her bigotry.
Don't think we've heard the last of this.

(11,175 posts)They couldn't impeach Davis without upsetting the fundies. What they might well do when they reconvene (I think in January) is to pass a bill allowing conscientious objector county clerks to cross their names off the form. The Legislature could also provide that such licenses are valid and that provision is retroactive to the Supreme Court's decision. Davis stays out of jail and even keeps her job, people in Rowan County can get marriage licenses with or without her approval, and Kentucky gets to stop spending money on litigation that makes the whole state look bad.

It's probably going to take another court order to either okay the changed wording OR make her stop playing stupid games.
