http://www.businessinsider.com/a-small-tsunami-might-hit-hawaii-tomorrow-morning-2015-9
weather experts are expecting a tsunami about nine feet high to hit the area. Some parts of Chile could experience waves as high as 15 feet, according to local news station 24 Horas.
The quake hit around 7:55 pm local time. Earthquakes of this magnitude are so rare they only happen about once a year, i09 reports. Local reports say the shaking lasted almost a full minute.
A buoy off the coast of Chile is registering tsunami anomalies, further confirming that a wave might be headed for Chile and possibly Hawaii.

Tsunami advisory remains in effect, scientists evaluate wave cycles
Scientists at the Pacific Tsunami Warning Center say they may have seen the largest wave cycle pass through the Hawaiian Islands.
At 6 a.m., the coastal gauge in Hilo showed the water rising a foot above tide level. That measurement has to remain consistent for at least another hour before the tsunami advisory is cancelled.
Earlier in Honolulu Harbor, in comparison, showed a wave increase of only a few inches.
Geologist Chip McCreery said that wave activity has been within the range of models set by the center.
Scientists will continue to monitor the tsunami wave cycles, maybe within the range of 5-7 cycles. McCreery said that American Samoa, who first felt the effects of the tsunami, said that the largest cycle was the 7th one, so there is a lot of variability.

I guess I can put my Opus pool float away now.
Further warnings called off. Beaches are all open again.
