Is Kim Davis defying court orders again? ACLU files against Kentucky clerk.

Last edited Tue Sep 22, 2015, 10:58 AM - Edit history (2)

Why can't they have marriage licenses the same as everyone else. And, what if the next gov. is totally RW and says they are not valid. And, why should clerks be following their conscience, their god as to how to run their office. This, is so totally F'en insane. So, what is next, who next will say something offends their god, whoever, whatever that might be. FFS, we are in the 21st century!!!

This Monday, the American Civil Liberties Union asked a federal judge to order Davis to reissue the licenses, claiming in their court filing that the change leaves their clients’ marriages “questionable at best,” leaving Rowan County same-sex couples “second-class citizens unworthy of official recognition and authorization.” The ACLU's lawyers have requested that Judge Bunning place Davis’ office in receivership if she continues to alter the licenses.

Davis’ attorney, Mat Staver of the Liberty Counsel, is expected to formally respond to the claims on Tuesday. In the meantime, he emphasized that Kentucky Gov. Steve Beecher had promised to recognize the new Rowan County licenses, and denounced the fresh claims against Davis as being personally motivated. “They want her scalp to hang on the wall as a trophy,” he told the Associated Press. He called Davis’ compromises “a good-faith effort to comply with the court’s order” while following her conscience.

she is now really getting obsessive. And, this is far more than about marriage equality. It's an attempt IMO by her and her lawyers to break down church/state separation.
