(8,175 posts)Malia looks like her dad and Sasha looks like her mom and they are both turning into beautiful young women, inside and out.
And of course, their parents are also beautiful inside and out. What a family!

(62,683 posts)just like an Obama crowd!!!
I just wish Joe could have had a moment more with him, he's such a devout Catholic and going through such a rough time.
But I was glued to the TV and was so moved and excited -- tears in my eyes! Caught me by surprise.
Thanks for posting this, and has been posted, the girls are gorgeous -- look out, Mom and Dad!

You would think that might have been arranged.

@ 1:07 min into the video.

(63,914 posts)so much of what Joe carries has to be carried by him and him alone...altho it would be nice to hear that the Pope has you in his prayers...and I'm not religious...
dflprincess
(28,089 posts)and he mentioned to Colbert the peace he finds at Mass. As you said, just knowing the Pope thinks of him would probably be a comfort.

(34,582 posts)it would be considered an insult to send the VP to welcome this priest, and the don't like having the VP and president in the same public place too often.

(29,100 posts)I get the feeling all the attention being shown "this priest" is really bugging you...Sorry 'bout that.

whathehell
(29,100 posts)I don't see anyone "genuflecting", and I, like those other DUers, don't see the pope in such evil, black and white terms.

Can you imagine the places they have been, the people they have met? Yes, they live in a fishbowl, but what history they have been part of and witnessed!

(5,167 posts)Was the tall African-American man shown in some photos Craig Robinson or a Secret Service agent?
I'm thinking an agent, but if Craig, that would be nice, too.
Also I was thinking all Mrs. Robinson has experienced, living in the White House and how great it would be if she wrote her memoirs when she leaves. (I wouldn't mind if she taped it or had an experienced author get it all down.)

(62,683 posts)I actually looked up the Stephen Colbert guy -- he's the Pope's interpreter, and impressive in his own right. Seems like a really good guy.
I'd love it if Colbert could see him or attend one of the Masses. Another devout Catholic who, I think, deserve it more than some big names who don't really care except it's the place to be .

Seriously, what a lovely picture. I am so very proud that they are MY First Family. They have not done or said one single thing to warrant the scorn, derision, and hate piled onto them by so-called "Patriots." They are despicable.

(62,444 posts)After they get outraged over the various perceived indignities and insults to which the Pope will have been subjected by Obama, they will then go after the Pope - for example "why does he go after capitalism here, but didn't go after communism in Cuba!"
Those people are like that.
After they are done with "Obama has strained relations with our allies!" they turn to "we don't care what a bunch of foreigners think!"
Odd bunch.

But Sasha was just 6 then, very much a little girl, and to see how mature and elegant she looks now just leaves me speechless!

Because he didn't snarl at the Pope? Like greeting him without smiles is an option?
Are they gonna discuss pedophile priests and birth control this trip?

He's NEVER done that! Good he got at least one in before his 2 terms are up!

(21,506 posts)I think she could do very well though if she chose to pursue it. She holds her self well in all the photos I have ever seen of her. A big part of politics is perception and she just seems to present a feeling of confidence and grace.
No matter what these young ladies choose to do it has been a pleasure watching them grow up.
