Does the plundering of the Greek economy have anything in common with the Volkswagen scandal?

I think so.

People who regard hard work, "economic productivity," and corporate profits as the higher goals of life will tend to overlook the damage they are doing to the earth's environment and the human spirit, even going so far as to trivialize their own ethical lapses and disregard for their fellow humans.

Thus we get massive unemployment and loans that can never be repaid in Greece, and automobiles spewing unlawful levels of pollutants here in the U.S.A..

It's not just Germans guilty of this. Being a hard working, economically productive, money-making person doesn't necessarily make you a good person.

In fact, the more money you make, the more likely it is you are screwing others over.
