I can see the logic. Draw them out in the open and hope people finally notice how bad things really are.

Looks like tea party will control house leadership and all committees. I don't think they'll let a budget bill including PP funding come to a vote on floor. They WANT a showdown with Obama over this, even if it means a shutdown.

(17,064 posts)A full year before the GE...give the GOP the rope to hang themselves with. While a years worth of shutdowns, impeachments, and votes to kill ObamaCare will be stupid, the voters will probably realize the GOP is batshit crazy and wants to destroy the govt not run it.

(24,412 posts)and, may I say, good for them. I know that, relatively speaking, Boehner may not be as bad as whoever is likely to follow him but he's pretty much gone along with the crazies every since he became Speaker and his tenure as Speaker of the House has been marked by little than throwing our historically stable federal government (regardless of party) into near constant turmoil over the budget causing/threatening a shutdown and/or debt default just about every other year since 2011. Hopefully, he is staying on until the end of October to help ensure that there won't be a shutdown (what's he got to lose at this point, right?) and that we will be able to keep things running-more or less- smoothly through the end of Obama's Presidency.
