(15,715 posts)social status. The wealthy never had a problem with blacks as long as they were wealthy. The poor R's can't even see their own prejudice. They put up a picture of wealthy black businessmen and think that will entice the common black person to join. My grandaddy told me as a kid that there were even black landowners in the south that owned slaves. So I don't think that the tactic that Durham is trying will increase their black enrollment.
