(45,251 posts)Six years into the Bush administration, I noted changes in anchors from right leaning (e.g., Tucker Carlson) to more left leaning. (Matthews stayed in place, but changed his riff.) Rhetoric also changed, too. I think they started reversing the process six years into the Obama administration.

(58,785 posts)This is based on observing a pattern of decades of almost constantly slanted and outright dishonest coverage.
As for changing their lineup, various marketing reasons also contribute. IMO, they'd be fools to expect a GOP president this time around - unless they're heartened by the far left working to sink the Democratic Party, of course. But I don't think they're fools.

(268,998 posts)and the one percent's agenda's to serve. Todd is a fugging RW dunce and Mitchell is a neo-con tool who loves to be seen with 'important' people.

(15,805 posts)Their stable of contributors and so called experts has changed with a lot of familiar faces being replaced by pro-Republican spokesmodels. I can't recall whose show, but one of the quest panelists was actually a reporter from Glenn Beck's show, The Blaze.
Its MSNBC's fair and balanced version of Fox Lite!

(7,572 posts)MSNBC has wiped off & thrown away most of the young, interesting hosts, leaving the the hacks, and adding more hacks. I can't believe Melissa, and Steve Karnacki are gone off Sat. am. How long are Chris Hayes and Rachel and Laurence O'Donnell going to last? Maybe they have guaranteed contracts. Just disgraceful how they have destroyed a dynamic team. Who to write to protest? Not that it would do any good.

(58,785 posts)Hayes, Kornacki, and Ezra Klein, all very, very smart and fond of discussing numbers and facts. Like all hosts, I like them best when they are discussing issues with genuine experts in their fields -- instead of sitting around chatting with MSNBC's new younger generation of instant-experts-on-any-topic very serious people. I change the channel when those come on any show.
Rachel always. Tedious as she can be when she doesn't have something really good, she's fantastic when she does, which is often.
And O'Donnell. He really knows how things work in Washington. I've heard him smash many silly and/or dishonest MSM group-think "analyses." I just hope refusing to hide in a safe middle-of-the-pack position doesn't cost us him.

(70,504 posts)..... lack of working w/the other side and that hurt Rep. Boner even though Eric was one
of the 14 who got together and plotted to block everything President Obama would try to
do in order to tank the economy and hurt the American people in order to keep Obama
from being re-elected.

(146,308 posts)The definition of what's news and what is commentary has changed, at least for that industry. Most of the cable news channels are commentary most of the time. Viewers tend to think commentary is news, and that's encouraged by those channels.

(28,394 posts)I ended up flipping between CNN and C-span. So many just plain stupid comments, like Matthews calling the Mass a "sacrament." He was a blathering fool throughout the entire coverage.
