100,000 people attend prayer-meeting in Peru to support Kim Davis... says Kim Davis-supporter

http://thinkprogress.org/lgbt/2015/09/28/3706199/kim-davis-prayer-rally-peru/

Embattled Kentucky county clerk Kim Davis was no doubt the guest of honor at this year’s Values Voter Summit, with the hosting Family Research Council awarding her a “Cost of Discipleship Award.” Mat Staver, chairman of the Liberty Counsel, which legally represents her, praised her courage and claimed that 100,000 people had attended a prayer rally to support her in Peru.

...

The image seems to have first been tweeted the day before the summit by Matt Barber, also formerly of the Liberty Counsel, who claimed, “Christians in Peru had a prayer rally for #KimDavis & American Christians. over 100K showed up. Amazing!” Staver posted the image a second time on Sunday, claiming that Peruvian Congressman Julio Rosas was responsible for organizing it.

-------------------------------------

The image is actually from a christian rally in May 2014, easily identifiable by the sports-stadium in the background and the layout of the event.

There is not one shred of evidence that this rally in support of Kim Davis actually happened. No pics, no announcements, no invitations, nothing in the news-media, nothing on social-media. Nothing.

Liberty Counsel gave a press-release that this rally totally happened, these things just don't get that much media-coverage over there. Well, there was an error when they said that it happened in Lima, Peru.
(Again: The stadium is 100% identified as being one of the stadiums in Lima.)

Liberty Counsel then issued yet another press-release how the rally absolutely, totally happened. You can take Julio Rosas by his word for that. And there is no evidence for that rally because these things are so normal in Peru that they don't get media-coverage. Btw, a church in Nigeria also supported Kim Davis with prayer and fasting.
(The church was identified: It seems to have no physical address and has existed on Facebook since April 2015.)

End of story?
A Twitter-user found exactly the photo that the Liberty Counsel held up as proof... on the Facebook-page of the event in May 2014.

The copper mine protests? The Ubinas eruption? The money laundering probe?

Don't be silly! If we don't think about those things, why should they? Of course their attention is glued to Kentucky!
