“Forbidden Planet,” one of the most influential sci-fi films of all time, is coming to the big screen in 35 mm next month.

Omaha film historian Bruce Crawford will host his 37th tribute to classic films with a special screening at 7 p.m. Oct. 23 on the stagewide screen in Witherspoon Hall of the Joslyn Art Museum, 2200 Dodge St.

Actor Robert Dix, who portrayed crewman Grey in “Forbidden Planet,” will be the event’s special guest.

Artist Nicolosi will once again create a commemorative U.S. Postal Service envelope honoring the film.

FULL story at link.

We met Anne Francis in 2002: http://www.steveandmarta.com/graveyards/tzcon2002.htm

Anne Francis was very gracious. I had a TZ shot for her to sign, and asked her about her appearance in "Search." She didn't remember "Search" at all. I went through the actor's on the show and the premise, but she couldn't remember anything about it. My husband mentioned that he's had a huge crush on her when "Honey West" was on (I imagine half of the men in America who are between 45 and 60 could say the same!), and asked if he could give her a hug. She said sure, and he leaned over the table. She had expected him to come around the back and went "Whooaa!!" He apologized, and went around the back of the table, and she said the last person to do that had been Robert Blake, who leapt over a table at her. So now I'm teasing my husband that he lunged at Anne Francis.

I'll be in a tux again like the photo below with Debbie Reynolds. She was the guest of honor for the "Singing in the Rain" event.

I expected "cheesy b-movie" and got "damned fine film" instead.

Not simply an original composition, but on original instruments. They didn't exist before this movie
