(9,214 posts)in the past and may not be one again after the general election. I don't feel comfortable supporting an organization that doesn't care for it's members. But we'll see how the general election goes, if Bernie's coattails are as long as I think they will be the party may have an awakening. Let's hope so.

Don't know how this site is w/o Addblock plus or any other addblocker. Just to disclose prior. Select players are better than others; Vidzi, vodlocker, filehoot, vidbull....
1st & 2nd series really describes it well.

(2,427 posts)I registered as a Democrat for the primary and then will switch back to Independent/Unaffiliated afterward. We don't have open primaries in Oregon.
Cheers!

(19,537 posts)... on the forms you register for a driver's license so you get your automatic voter registration set to being a Democrat and don't have to deal with filing any more forms!
It's important to do this up until April when the deadline for voter registration happens here in Oregon.
We need to elect more Democrats to the state legislature to get some more comprehensive gun legislation passed and not count on Bloomberg to fund our candidates' campaigns this coming election.

(15,359 posts)People that lost close races blamed that for killing late turnout and they in some cases were right.
Not sure it will matter with these hackable electronic voting machines.
Also question the polling data lately. I hear Trump, Carlson, and Clinton are at the top, and even with my extremely diverse group of friends and coworkers, I do not know a single soul that supports these people for office. How bizarre. How bizarre.

(14,586 posts)But pourquoi would you ever list your political party affiliation on any registration form?
Something I have never understood as a Canadian. We do not have that requirement. i think this only opens up opportunity for malfeasance. As per this story:
http://www.truth-out.org/archive/component/k2/item/50213:republicans-destroy-democratic-voters-registration-forms
Ex-worker says he saw Demos' forms trashed.
Democrats in Nevada charged in a lawsuit Wednesday that a company paid by the Republican National Committee destroyed voter-registration forms they had collected from Democratic voters.
Similar allegations have surfaced in Oregon and West Virginia, where the group has been active.
Its very odd, not to mention risky, that you'all down there have to do this in order to complete your registration to simply take part in the voting process.

(23,156 posts)can only vote in the primary for whatever political party you're registered to. That's why.
It's also why in states that are dominated by one political party, people will register with that party so as to be able to vote in the primary, which is often where the winner of the general election is decided, especially as the weaker one often has no one running at all in many offices.

(77 posts)Forms vary by state but I this looks like one where you just declare your party affiliation on the voter registration form..

(32,723 posts)Because he wasn't a REAL Democrat. It was also claimed that Bernie shouldn't be allowed in the Democratic Debates and loyal Democrats should not vote for him. That means this place shouldn't support him either as this is DEMOCRATIC Underground and he's not a Democrat.
I was reminded of this:
BTW: Here's Bernie's filing...

(5,902 posts)I certainly remember my first voter registration card: October 1999 - just in time for the 2000 Dem. primaries (and of course that very fateful presidential election).
The sky seemed to be the limit for this country - and I so wanted to believe it would always be that way. Alas, the Bushpreme Court had other ideas.
Anyway, congratulations. Not too many young people give politics a thought anymore, and it's always nice to see exceptions to that.
And remember, retrowire: Damn the man! Save the empire.
