Two flight instructors from state funded Southern Utah University, were killed when their aircraft crashed during a training flight earlier this week. During a news broadcast about the crash, a local news station showed video of the flight school's hangar at the Cedar City, Utah airport.
Towards the end of the video, there are two flags prominently displayed side by side on the wall of the hangar. One flag is a red colored school flag with the letters SUU. The other flag is a bright yellow "Gadsden" flag, now used by the extremist right wing hate group known as the Tea-Party!
As a lifelong Utah resident and taxpayer, I find the prominent display of this symbol of right wing extremism in a state subsidized facility to be offensive and out of line.
It is unfortunate that it took the deaths of the two flight instructors to show that this school has some ugly political extremism that needs to be dealt with.
The offensive display is shown at the 1:53 point in the video. It only lasts for about 3 seconds but how long has the flag been on display in the facility?

(6,409 posts)The Gadsden flag is at least not the battle flag of a group of people who revolted against the United States, tried to break away from the union so they could own other human beings, and caused untold death and suffering.

Could the instructor be a teabagger? Quite possibly.
