Gaven Newsom? You are a Stud!

Just watched you on Rachael... And man, you just impressed the hell out of me.. Besides the fact that you are one hell of a good looking guy ( which never hurts national aspirations) you were eloquent, well informed and seemed determined to kick some NRA ass in california. Yep, in Nov. 2016 there will be referendums on the ballot which will bypass all the 2nd Amendment arguments concerning guns and focus only on bullets.. if you can not legislate gun control because NRA advocates scream and piss 2nd amendment arguments.... Then go after the bullets.. And thats exactly what Gavin Newsom intends to do...

Go fucking get em Gavin!!

When he suceeded Willie Brown as mayor of SF and then went on to become Lt. Gov. I thought he was primed for national office but don't know if he can get past that.

Another impressive and polished dem from California is ex-LA mayor Antonio Villaraigosa. He, also though has had "other" women problems.

Wish these guys hadn't screwed up (literally) as they both had, maybe have, the potential to go far on the national scene.

I go down a lot to visit and march in protests..and the actions of the police is pretty heavy handed. You have very wealthy people in LA and then you have very poor. It has also lost the middle class. Getting the minority vote out has been a 20 year movement for my brother and the gentrification has made a real impact in the Echo Park and other neighborhoods that used to have families of limited means.

to replace Jerry Brown when he's termed out in '18. If all three run, Newsom has a good shot to at least get to November (we now have a bizarre Louisiana-style top-twp primary system. Thanks, Abel Maldonado! ) with Villaraigosa and Garcetti splitting the SoCal vote.

edit: The philandering angle is not nearly as big a deal out here as it is nationally (think Der Gropenfuhrer).

Probably "He's a good guy"....or "He's on the right side of this matter" would be a better way of expressing the thought.

He doesn't want to be reminded of his "studly" days, that ended his first marriage. He's finally lived this down: http://content.time.com/time/nation/article/0,8599,1585094,00.html He has remarried, gotten treatment for alcohol dependency, and gone on to have three kids with his new bride.

He is a very smart guy--he has gotten where he is despite really crippling dyslexia that is more profound than many cases. He's also been on the right side of history before (marriage equality). I think he's right on this score, too.

Who demands perfection? It's how you behave AFTER you screw up that counts. Also, if you're not waving a "Do as I say" flag, you get a little more latitude.

If I lived anywhere near the AZ/CA border, I would be tempted to open an ammo store and offer CA residents a 15-20% discount on ammo of their choosing and if CA demanded I stop selling to their residents, I'd tell them to shove it and continue to rake in the dough.

Pointing out that the word "stud" is not a smart one to use when talking about someone with that weakness in their background is not "complaining" about the PERSON. But, hey, context is optional around these parts, lately.

He does have great potential--even more so because of his disability. He is profoundly dyslexic, and (as some people do not realize) dyslexics are often smarter than the average bear because they have to compensate for their affliction. They are dynamic and creative thinkers. He could do a lot towards de-mystifying and de-stigmatizing the condition, certainly.

I think we've moved into an era where at least the younger segments of the voting populace simply don't give a shit one way or another about that sort of thing.

Specifically, is he willing to redistribute money from the financial elite and multinationals to average Americans?

We have to require that from our candidates these days. It needs to be said with no apologies. The financial elite and multinationals have gotten away with looting the nation's wealth and income for far too long. If they refuse to pay living wages for so many for so long, redistribution is not only justified, but it's absolutely necessary.
