CIA Directors Personal Email Allegedly Hacked
The FBI has started an investigation into the purported hacking, a source says
WASHINGTONA Twitter user claiming to have hacked into the personal email account of Central Intelligence Agency Director John Brennan has released a purported contact list of 2,611 email and instant message addresses, including information for top intelligence and national security officials.
A check of the information by The Wall Street Journal, combined with attempts to reach those listed, suggested that at least some of the information is correct. In addition, some on the list have been contacted by intelligence officials telling them their information had been compromised.
The Federal Bureau of Investigation has begun an investigation into the purported hacking, according to a person familiar with the matter.
The disclosed information may have included the government email addresses of 22 CIA employees, as well as those for numerous other high-ranking officials and people well-positioned in intelligence and national security agencies.
