Matheson Museum declines confederate statue (FL)

Tuesday the Matheson Museum's board of directors voted 9-2 to not accept the confederate monument that now stands in the heart of downtown Gainesville ...
The county commission voted in September to donate the century old statue commemorating confederate veterans to the museum, only if the museum would pay for the relocation and no public funds were used.
Museum board member Bob Ackerman says ... "There was substantial concern about accepting a divisive monument" ...
