Arizona appeals against FDA seizure of execution drug

Associated Press in Tucson, Arizona
Wednesday 28 October 2015 19.06 GMT

The state of Arizona filed a formal appeal to the FDA over its seizure of an execution drug, according to documents released on Wednesday.

The FDA stopped the nearly $27,000 shipment of sodium thiopental in July at the Phoenix airport, claiming that it is illegal to import the drug.

But attorneys for the state say the FDA does not have the authority to stop the shipment.

In a letter dated 23 October, a private attorney hired to represent the state argues that the importation does not violate the rules the FDA cited in its withholding of the drug.

I assume there is no way these bloodthirsty bastards could ever change to a more readily available execution method, like hanging, the electric chair, the firing squad, or intravenous infusion of Everclear.

It seems like the feds are being awfully gentlemanly about all this, I'm pretty sure if I was illegally importing controlled substances I would be having a much rougher go of it with my "regulatory issues".

I'm just waiting for a dead corrections bureaucrat to be dragged off a plane because the vial of petobarwhatever that they stuck up their asshole shattered enroute.
