One could argue that hes even more authentically African-American than Barack Obama, given that Obamas mother was white and he was raised in part by his white grandparents. In his autobiography, Obama writes at length about how he grew up outside the traditional African-American experience in Hawaii and Indonesia and how he consciously chose to adopt a black identity when he was in college.
hmm, I wonder where he got his talking points?:

(53,866 posts)they are both equally african american, but Obama is a better political reflection of AA values than Carson is. Most AA's support the same policies that Obama does.

(22,336 posts)Obama's lived experience has certainly been that of an African American man. It isn't something that is changed by who your parents or grandparents are. If you look a certain way, you are a victim of racism. No one checks into your parents or whether you lived in Hawaii before discriminating against you.

(7,160 posts)his campaign manager to Minister Farrakhan you know that way they can say his has ties to the NOI therefore he is really a Muslim same disgusting shit they tried on President Obama. I read one just to see and it and the comments made me sick. I think it's Trump would said there are some nasty things that could come out about Dr. Carson. I don't like what he would do to this country but racism is racism and it needs to be confronted.

Someone here or at the Sewer Site will be trying to tie this to Bernie within 18 hours. Make book on it.
They're both JEWS, after all.

(9,350 posts)Before Dr. Ben Carson, Republicans thought President Barack Obama was too black. Now that Dr. Carson is on the scene President Obama is somehow not black enough. Before Dr. Carson stepped into politics, despite President Obama's upbringing, Republican always tried to associate President Obama with ghetto life and a ghetto upbringing. I might be wrong, but I think Dinesh D'Souza tweeted something like, "you can take the boy out of the ghetto, but you cannot take the ghetto out of the boy". Now all of a sudden the Republicans want to talk about President Obama's white mother and the fact that he was raised by his white grandparents.
