On Monday, July 7, 2014 I wrote this as a reply:
Please inform yourself before making false statements. Yes, Texas repugs in office are batshit crazy, but the people that I know in my own state are bright educated liberals.
Yesterday, I was doing some searching of past posts and came upon this:This is a recent phenomena for Texas. Texas has been blue until McMonkey won s̶t̶o̶l̶e̶ the governorship.
Please inform yourself before making false statements. Yes, Texas repugs in office are batshit crazy, but the people that I know in my own state are bright educated liberals.

Someone used a strikethrough on stole. But who and why? Is someone/group of people hacking DU and making slight changes on text?
It really doesn't bother me all that much, but I thought it was weird.

(38,000 posts)like maybe you used the "strike" tag instead of the "strong" tag?

(2,672 posts)I mean, I wouldn't write won and the stole and use the strike on stole. I know what I wrote and I have never written anything resembling won on anything "bush". Anyway, I always recheck my work for mistakes, but as with everyone that writes, even rechecking can lead to mistakes but I'm sure that's not the case with my past post.

The won is after the stole.
And it seems strikes don't copy and paste.

(21,947 posts)There is no red text indicating that an edit was made, which would display the edit history. That means that if the post was edited, it occurred during the short window after posting (10 or 15 minutes, I forget the exact time) during which edits can be made without the edit history being saved. The database shows no record of any edits to that post.
Your post looks to me like an example of the "sarcastic strikethrough" which is used pretty regularly on DU and elsewhere. Are you sure you're not just misremembering what you posted?
(PS. In future I recommend that you post stuff like this in the Ask The Administrators forum -- thanks.)

(2,672 posts)I remember that post because I truly believe that McMonkey did indeed steal the governorship in Texas. Why would I use a "sarcastic strikethrough" on a post I'm serious about when I don't think he's ever won any election.

(61,695 posts)Ann Richards had some bad press after it was discovered that the Railroad Commissioner she helped win office had lied about receiving her college degree. Bush's campaign made sure AR paid for that one. But I don't recall questions of fraud, cheating, etc. Don't misunderstand me, I think W's team would cheat, but I don't recall how that happened.

(9,314 posts)They pretty much knew how damaging this would be to her campaign.
Rove was Lee Atwater's protege so he learned from the master. But unlike Atwater, Rove did sometimes leave fingerprints.
I absolutely cannot wait to see that movie when it is finished and released: Young Americans.

John Krokidas (Kill Your Darlings) finally has funding, and a cast, for his Karl Rove-Lee Atwater road trip movie, Deadline reports. Young Americans, previously College Republicans, then Young Republicans, will depict the young Rove (Dane DeHaan) and Atwater (Daniel Radcliffe) on a Mission From God®, as they go on a criss-cross-country trip in a Ford Pinto in the spring of 1973, attempting to convert young people to the conservative cause.

I never heard that rumor (lie) about AR during the campaign, but we didn't have much in the way of social media then, just some AOL groups IIRC.
Karl Rove is capable of vile, evil acts, like his mentor.
