Related: Editorials & Other Articles, Issue Forums, Alliance Forums, Region ForumsAfter 4.5 years of dithering, the Michigan House has finally passed a road funding bill. Trouble is,
it won't kick in for 6 goddamned years. This is what happens when you have a Republican Governor and Republican legislature. Nothing. Zip. Nada. Bupkis. An utter lack of ledership and an inability to govern. It's shameful, and we are further down the road to becoming Michissippi.
Unbelievable.

(28,498 posts)A few months ago I hit a pothole here in KC and broke a strut! Luckily, I got it welded for a nominal fee, but still, it was just one more chore to tend to.

I hate what those Western Michigan right wing Dominionists are doing to my beloved state.
The Michigan GOP of 35 years ago would be appalled at these assholes.

(34,455 posts)a consumer protection lobbyist in Lansing (he defeated bills abolishing price tags in stores for years--it finally passed the year he retired, sigh, and now there are no fucking prices on anything). Anyway, he began working in state government in 1978. He told me today that he didn't think he'd even be interested in politics now. One of his acquaintances from back in the day is John Engler's best friend. I guess his cordial friendship with my sweetie has caused a few Republicans to ask him, Why the hell do you talk to HIM?!?" He replied, "Sure, he's a Communist, but he's a nice guy." I don't think that would happen today. It's a sad state of affairs.
