... lately it seems the old flag has become embarrassing. There are always a few on either side who love it or hate it, but the vast majority of southerners in the middle just don’t care to hear about it ...
It’s terrible to think that’s what it took – the murder of innocent people in their Bible study – but finally, the state that fired the first shots was ashamed to be seen with that flag.
They haven’t quite figured it out in Walton County. In Defuniak Springs, a confederacy of dunces hauled down the Dixie battle flag last summer, only to run up the official flag of the CSA itself. Maybe that’s progress, like speaking an insult instead of shouting it ...
Mississippi’s flag still has the old emblem in its upper left corner ... But there’s no law that says you have to fly it ...
